The ERAM Doctoral School offers three courses modalities intended to prepare students to pursue a doctoral program in Europe in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The programme is comprehensive and includes:

 

  • Academic English Course. A 500h course to prepare students for the Cambridge English Certificate Level C1 (Advanced) or equivalent.

  • Specialization course “Introduction to Arts Based Research”. (15 ECTS). A course to prepare pre-doctoral students in qualitative and post-qualitative research methods applied to the Creative Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. This course awards a Specialization diploma in "Introduction to Arts Based Research”.

 

The Doctoral School also offers a welcome and socialization program for students to integrate and participate actively in the ERAM and UdG university community, as well as in the cultural life of Salt and Girona, which includes:

 

  • A welcome day. 

  • Participation in artistic, cultural, social and academic events.

  • Attendance and participation at ERAM degree’s and master’s activities, such as exhibitions, plays, etc.

Specialization Course

INTRODUCTION TO ARTS BASED RESEARCH

Specialization course focused on exploring qualitative and postqualitative research methods in Arts-Based Research paradigm, in order to provide theoretical and practical tools for students to design their doctoral projects in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Technology always related with arts.

For arts-based research, the course includes all subgenres considered in contemporary scholarship: DesignBased Research, Performance, Poetry, Theatre, Visual Arts, Artsbased educational research (ABER), A/R/Tography, etc.

“ABR is a transdisciplinary approach to knowledge building that combines the tenets of the creative arts in research contexts. I have described ABR practices as methodological tools used by researchers across the disciplines during any or all phases of research, including problem generation, data or content generation, analysis, interpretation and representation. These tools adapt the tenets of the creative arts in order to address research questions holistically.”

Introduce students to scientific and artistic research.

Offer specialized training in Arts-Based Research, applied in the following areas/disciplines: interaction design, human-computer interaction, design research, visual arts, performing arts, arts education, and education.

Give tools to design a viable doctoral research project in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Technology.

Accompany students in the design of their doctoral research projects.

Contribute to the integration of newly arrived students in the local,
national and international academic community, especially the European academic context.

Explore European culture and foster international networking through ERAM International.

imply acceptance of the student at their aimed PhD
program and university.


After concluding the course, students must apply for
themselves for their intended doctoral programs,
following the selection protocols of each university and
its respective PhD programs' formal requisites. These
selection processes and protocols are
independent of
this Specialization course diploma.

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

ERAM will accompany students throughout the admissions process, which consists of the following parts:

  • To be admitted, applicants must hold a full bachelor's degree and an official master's degree, and both documents must be legalized, apostilled (a process to legalize documents from one country to another, where the central government of the country certifies that the university where the studies were completed exists and is recognized). This document must be translated into an affidavit.

  • Apply using the CEIDA form (Only for residents of China).

  • Interview with thesis directors.

  • Candidates are required to hold an English language certificate, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.5.

  • Upon successful interview, candidates will receive the acceptance letter.

  • Payment of tuition fees.

  • Receive proof of payment.

  • Ensure accomodation.

  • Begin visa process.

  • Arrive before September 10th.

  • ERAM assists students with all legal steps to obtain the residence card.
